(KMOV) – Police are investigating an armed robbery in the same section of north St. Louis where police began increased patrols on Wednesday.

The latest incident happened in the 5700 block of Goodfellow Pl. just before 1 a.m.

According to police, a 47-year-old man was walking up to the stairs to his apartment when four masked men approached from behind.

Police say one of the suspects hit the victim with a gun and a struggle ensued. Somehow the suspects got in the victim’s apartment and took his cell phone and car keys before fleeing in his 2002 black Chevy Impala.

The robbery just happened less than 24 hours after officers began hot-spot policing in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood.

On Wednesday, police made 12 arrests and recovered four guns.
