TROY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police say a citizen's tip helped lead detectives to a Ballwin man accused of robbing a bank nearly two weeks ago.

Jerry Brooks, 44, was arrested at a Metro-East hotel on Friday, after allegedly robbing the Community State Bank in Troy, Mo. on May 22.

Officials say a citizen recognized Brooks from bank surveillance footage shown on the news. The citizen's tip lead detectives to issue a search warrant for the suspect's Ballwin home. By the time police searched the residence, Brooks had reportedly fled the area.

Detectives later located the suspect at a hotel in Caseyville, Ill., where Brooks was arrested without incident.

Brooks faces charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. According to police, he confessed to the crime.

During the robbery, Brooks allegedly handed the teller a note indicating he had a weapon, then walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Brooks is being held at the Lincoln County Jail on $75,000 bond.
