(KMOV) – Two suspects are in custody after officers found meth in a home where two children also lived in the Metro East.

Police in East Alton say Matthew Delaney, 36, and Kristine Patterson, 23, have been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Police say Delaney and Patterson were manufacturing between 100 and 400 grams of meth while a 16-month-old and 4-year-old were in the home.

“It’s very scary that they are just four houses down the street from us,” Megan Weber, a neighbor, said. “You just think ‘What if an explosion happened’ and how silly it is for them to endanger their children’s lives that way.”

Many residents said the two arrested were only in the neighborhood for about a month and never saw much of them.

Investigators say they also found ammonia, lighter fluid and various acids used in meth production inside the home.
