(KMOV.com) – Police arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred at PNC Bank in Maplewood.

The robbery happened on Monday, May 6 on the 2200 block of Big Bend. Police arrested the alleged suspect, Anthony J. Wilson, 31,  on Tuesday.

Wilson showed the bank teller a demand letter and inferred he had a weapon, which was not shown.  He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Maplewood detectives, assisted by St. Louis City Police and other law enforcement agencies, arrested Wilson near the Lumiere Casino in downtown St. Louis.

Maplewood residents living near the bank who observed the suspect fleeing shortly after the robbery occurred provided police with valuable information which assisted detectives in identifying Wilson.

Wilson was charged on Tuesday by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with first degree robbery.

Bond was set at $50,000.
