ST. LOUIS -- A man who shot at St. Louis police has been sentenced to four years in prison—a term that angers some police officers.
KMOX Radio reported Tuesday that prosecutors had sought a 20-year sentence for Ronnell Hood. Jeff Rooda of the St. Louis Police Officer’s Association calls the sentence an insult.
The shooting happened in 2010. No officers were hurt. Hood pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced by St. Louis Circuit Judge Calea Stovall-Reid.
Roorda says the sentence sends a message that serious offenses will not be taken seriously by the courts.
