FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police say they have two people in custody in connection to a triple shooting in Berkeley on Sunday afternoon.
Officials with the Berkeley Police Department said charges against the men were expected Wednesday.
According to police, an officer on patrol in Berkeley heard what he believed to be gunshots in the 8300 block of Fairbanks around 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
While investigating, the officer saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Airport Road. The officer gave chase and stopped the vehicle on Carson and South Dade.
Police said the officer found four people inside the vehicle, three of whom had been shot..
Authorities said one of the victims had been involved in an altercation and shots were fired at the vehicle.
At least one occupant returned fire and their vehicle fled the scene. It was at that point the officer saw them speeding.
The shooting victims were transported to an area hospital. One victim was listed in critical condition on Sunday, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
Officers recovered two handguns during the initial investigation.
