(KMOV.com) -- Police say a 30-year-old man was arrested after shooting at two people during an apparent drug deal, then biting an officer in south St. Louis.

A police officer reportedly observed the suspect standing in the street and firing shots at a building in the 300 block of Potomac late Friday night.

Authorities say when the officer approached him, the suspect fled on foot and discarded his weapon.

Several police officers helped capture the suspect. During the arrest, the suspect allegedly became violent and bit an officer on his hand.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while the officer refused medical attention.

Police said the two victims fled the area before they could be identified.
