(KMOV.com) – New statistics show crime was down in St. Louis County during 2013.
Numbers released by St. Louis County Police indicate the overall crime rate dropped 7.4 percent. The number of rapes increased by 126 percent, but officials said that was mostly due to a revision of the term by the U.S. Justice Department.
Other numbers broke down this way:
Robbery decreased 6 percent
Aggravated assault deceased 8.4 percent
Motor vehicle theft decreased 25.2 percent
Burglaries decreased 3.2 percent
The department said 2013 was the fifth straight year that crime decreased, while total crime is the lowest it has been since 1969.
