ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – A 92-year-old woman suffered eight broken ribs and two broken arms after police say she was beaten by her 37-year-old granddaughter in south St. Louis County earlier this month.

Rachel Armstrong was charged Thursday with first-degree elderly abuse.

According to police, Armstrong was at her home in the 10000 block of Golf Crest in the Sappington area when she threw down her grandmother and stomped on her, breaking both her arms and eight ribs on November 12.

According to police, Armstrong thought her grandmother was a demon and tried to beat it out of her before tucking her in bed.

St. Louis County Police said Armstrong later admitted to the beating.

Police said she was taken into custody and would be checked out by psychologists.

She remains at the St. Louis County jail with a $75,000 bond.
