ST.CHARLES, Mo (KMOV.com) – Authorities say a man disguised himself as a woman when robbing a bank in St. Charles on Wednesday.
DeAndre Wilkes, 33, was charged with first-degree robbery.
Police said Wilkes dressed up as a woman and walked into the Commerce Bank in the 1100 block of First Capitol Drive around 10 a.m.
According to police, Wilkes passed a note and implied he had a weapon, however no weapon was displayed. The suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.
A witness who was in the area at the time of the robbery reported suspicious activity by the occupant of a two-tone blue van just prior to the call. That information was relayed to other agencies.
St. Ann police made traffic stop on I-70 matching that vehicle’s description.
Investigators responded to the scene and determined the Wilkes was the driver. He was subsequently positively identified by bank employees.
An unidentified amount of money from the robbery was recovered.
