CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago man is accused of using a sword in an attack in which he allegedly beat and sexually assaulted a woman.
Police say 20-year-old Kenneth Merrills beat, sexually assaulted and restrained the woman in her home in west suburban River Forest.
The woman later fled and called police, who arrested Merrills at the apartment without incident on Thursday morning.
Authorities say the woman did not suffer serious physical injuries and was released from a hospital.
Merrills has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.
A judge ordered him held on $15,000 bond.
