(KMOV.com) -- Five teenagers who police say were armed with a gun and machetes are charged as adults in an alleged armed robbery of a bong.

Armed Robbery charges came down Tuesday afternoon in Monroe County Court for Colin Mortin (17), Paul West (17), Benjamin Caldwell (16), Ryan Aukema (16) and Tylor Kitchell (15). Court records show all have pleaded not guilty except for West who posted bond before his arraignment.

Prosecutors say the teens used the weapons to take the smoking paraphernalia Saturday night at Meadow Ridge Park in Columbia, IL. Police say one teen was armed with a gun and the rest had machetes.  No one was hurt police say.

Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards says he’s bothered by how young the suspects are.

“I think it’s time we take a really good look at how we’re bringing out children up, and what we’re doing to make sure they don’t end up doing things like this,” says Chief Edwards.

For Carolyn Lane, who says she’s lived next to the park for 24 years, was surprised to hear about the robbery.

It is pretty scary to think they’d use that much violence,” says Lane.
