Suspect injured following officer involved shooting in Metro East
(KMOV.com) – A suspect was injured following an officer involved shooting in the Metro East Tuesday morning.
According to the Illinois State Police, at 4:30 a.m. the owner of the St. Clair Food Mart, near 37th and St. Clair, called police because an alarm was going off. A Washington Park officer responded to the call and entered the store where there was “a confrontation” between the suspect and officer.
The suspect was shot, left the building and was found outside.
Police say that the suspect entered the store through the roof of the building.
Authorities say that the injured suspect was transported to an area hospital and is in an unknown condition.
