(KMOV.com) – Police said they are investigating after an officer pulled over a car in Crystal City and found two bloodied people inside.

Authorities told News 4 an officer pulled over a speeding car near the intersection of Bailey Road and Highway 67/61 before he looked into the backseat and saw two passengers, one who had been stabbed and with blood on her face.

“Well they’re both bloodied. So obviously some red flags go up in the officer’s mind,” said Crystal City Chief of Police Jeff McCreary.

Police told News 4 a man had been stabbed in his left side and woman had blood on her face, but was not seriously hurt. Police said the driver was rushing them to a local hospital, something that is often done so police do not get involved. Authorities said the officer called an ambulance after discovering the bodies.

“When you see someone with that type wound and not a lot of external blood, it could mean there was internal bleeding, so we erred on the side of caution and got an ambulance there right away,” McCreay said.

Police are still investigating but believe the two passengers had a violent confrontation. Authorities believe the person responsible for the stabbing was inside the car.
