ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – An off-duty St. Louis police officer sustained minor injuries after his personal vehicle was stolen Thursday morning.

Around 9:00 a.m.Thursday, authorities said the officer was working a secondary job as a security guard in the 3700 block of Washington when he observed two black males pull into the parking lot on his surveillance monitor. One of the males got out and entered the officer's personal vehicle, and then drove off. The officer said the other black male suspect was a gray Bonneville following behind the stolen vehicle.

According to police, when the officer ran out, the suspect drove toward the him, attempting to strike him, and then fled north on Spring.

The officer suffered a minor foot injury on his foot and shoulder pain. He was treated at the scene.

The off-duty officer’s vehicle was found in the 4200 block of Delmar unoccupied a short time later. Residents in the neighborhood said it's a common occurance along with burglaries and other crimes.

The suspects and gray Bonneville remain at large. Investigators hope that a good look at the license plate will lead them to the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
