O’Fallon, Mo. (KMOV) --  Police are searching for a vandal responsible for extensive damage to a park in St. Charles County.

Workers at Dames Park in O’Fallon, Mo. noticed tire track marks on the football field that is used for youth programs.

O’Fallon police said they have at least one solid lead and are working very hard to follow up on it.

Authorities said this could have been one vehicle or multiple vehicles because of the extent of the tread marks.

Officials estimated the total cost of damage to be around $5,000.

If police catch the vandal, the city will likely seek restitution so that taxpayer dollars are not spent.

Police ask anyone with information to call the O’Fallon Police department.
