(KMOV.com) -- An O'Fallon woman was charged with misdemeanor assault after she allegedly hid a condom inside her 5-year-old daughter's underwear in an effort to frame her ex-husband's fiancee.
The 26-year-old woman was charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault, according to a statement released on Friday. The woman's identity is not being released in order to protect the young victim.
On May 3, authorities say the woman placed a condom that was made to appear used inside her daughter's underwear, against the skin and near the vaginal area. According to the release, the woman then instructed the young girl to hide the condom inside her father's house, in an effort to trick the father into believing his fiancee was being sexually unfaithful.
The victim reportedly described the condom as "yucky," and became distressed. Detectives say the young girl then hid behind a shower curtain in her home. According to court documents, the mother was charged with assault because she committed the act "knowing that such person would regard such contact as offensive or provocative."
The mother was charged on Feb. 22.
