O’FALLON, Mo (KMOV.com) -- A man who allegedly hit his girlfriend then threatened her with a gun after she tried to call police is behind bars Monday.

31-year-old Frederick Tate is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and domestic assault.

Tate reportedly started fighting with the woman and took her phone.  While she was returning Tate to his home, he threw the phone out the car window.

She pulled over at the gas station to call police and that is when Tate reportedly threatened her with the gun.  Bail has been set at $25,000.
