(KMOV) – A Glen Carbon man on Tuesday pleaded guilty in federal court to charges he possessed nearly 16,800 pictures and videos of child pornography.
Arlynn Gene Georgeson, 54, pleaded guilty to possessing and receiving child porn.
According to court documents, authorities found about 16,282 images and 512 videos of minors engaged in sexual acts on Georgeson’s Dell laptop computer.
The investigation was started after two undercover FBI agents in separate states were able to download several child porn files from Georgeson’s computer.
Authorities seized his computer while executing a search warrant and that’s when the files were found.
During the investigation, Georgeson admitted he used a file-sharing program to initially download music, but began started searching for pictures and videos of child pornography.
He told investigators he downloaded the files while his wife was at work.
If convicted, Georgeson could serve up to 20 years in prison. His sentencing is set for October 1.
