ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis man was sentenced to six years Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of stealing.

Ladale Lewis admitted to stealing 270 dumpster hooks from over 30 different blocks throughout St. Louis.

According to officials, the replacement cost of the hooks is over $11,475. Reportedly, Lewis would sell the hooks for scrap.

In his confession, Lewis said he used a socket wrench that he kept in a milk crate

inside of his vehicle. He said he usually removed hooks from recycling and yard waste

dumpsters because they were newer and easier to remove. A 19 mm socket wrench was found in a milk crate in his defendant’s van.

Lewis has many prior arrests, and guilty pleas to several crimes including possession, burglary, and stealing.
