(KMOV) – A man in St. Charles County says he and his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter were almost shot while riding on his motorcycle.

“I thought somebody literally came up and hit me with a 2x4,” said Bob Worlitz. “It sounded like someone hit the 2x4 on the ground.”

Worlitz says after he heard the gunshot, he noticed a hole in the tour pack, the small trunk on the back of his bike. Once he got home, he found a .45 caliber bullet inside.

“It could have killed my 13-year-old,” Worlitz said. “This is not a joke. This is not a game. If we would have been a second faster, it would have hit her instead. It would have cost a 13-year-old her life.”

However, finding the shooter of a bullet that has been shot in the air is difficult. It’s possible for the bullet to travel more than a mile.

This comes shortly after a woman was hit in the face by a bullet that was shot in the air on July 4, lodging in her cheek.

Police are still searching for the shooters in both cases.

The investigation is ongoing.
