(KMOV) – A man is in custody after being involved in a standoff with police for several hours in west St. Louis County late Tuesday night.

Authorities said a man called police around 9:20 p.m. after his brother threatened to kill himself at a home in the 12900 block of Burning Bush Ct.

The man told officers his brother was addicted to the prescription drug Adderall and was out of pills. He said his brother was highly armed and not police friendly.

Police tactical units responded to the scene around 11 p.m. and got into a standoff with the suspect until he surrendered about five hours later.

He was then taken into protective custody.

Additional details were not immediately available.
