(KMOV) – A former St. Louis Rams player was caught in the crossfire of a shooting that sent a 30-year-old man to the hospital in north St. Louis early Monday morning.

According to police, the victim was in a vehicle when a string of bullets rang near the intersection of Kingshighway and Lillian around 12:15 a.m. The man was struck an unknown number of times and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The former Rams player, who has not been identified by officials, was sitting in a nearby cab when it was also struck by bullets. He was not hurt.

The bullets also hit a Metro bus, though no passengers were onboard.

Roughly 30 markers indicating where shell casings landed were found at the scene.

Police continue to investigate.
