O’FALLON, Mo. (KMOV) – A man faces charges after he allegedly broke into a home and attempted to molest a young teenager in O’Fallon, Missouri on Tuesday.
Pedro Chavez, 24, was charged with two counts of attempted child molestation and first-degree burglary.
According to police, Chavez broke into a home in the 200 block of Casalon Parkway around 11 p.m. and attempted to molest a 13-year-old victim.
Police said the suspect left the home, but returned a short time later and tried to molest the victim again.
St. Charles County Prosecutor Jack Banas praised the girl's quick thinking.
"She was smart enoguh to get him to the point where she could push him out the door," he said. "She locker herself in the bathroom and then called the police."
News 4 investigated and found that other than a few traffic ciolations, court records indicate Chavez does not have a history of serious offenses.
Chavez was arrested and taken into custody, where he remains on a $100,000 bond.
