ST. ANN (KMOV.com) - A man has been arrested for disturbing the peace after he offered random children potato chips from a car.

The suspect turned himself in after seeing a News 4 story about an incident where several children were approached by two strangers in a van while they were walking on Lindbergh Boulevard near the Northwest Airport Inn.

The suspect is from Pennsylvania and was visiting St. Louis on business. Police say hr told them he offered the children snacks as an act of generosity. He later told police he could see why that act could be misinterpreted.

Police have identified the second person in the truck but that individual has not been located. The suspect is denying any criminal intent.

News 4 is not identifying the suspect because he was only charged with a municipal offense. He does not have a history of child related criminal offenses.
