TROY, Mo (KMOV.com) -- A convicted sex offender is back behind bars, charged with raping a girl just two years after he got out of prison for committing the same crime.

Jacob Samuel Whitchurch lives in Silex, Missouri but was arrested in Troy.  News 4 also uncovered another recent warrant for Whitchurch for yet another crime against kids.

Authorities say Whitchurch was also wanted for trying to lure a girl online.  Had police been able to track him down in that case sooner, he would have been in jail instead of allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.

Police are concerned that given his history, there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.

Jacob Samuel Whitchurch’s latest victim knew her attacker as “Sam.”  What she didn’t know was his history as a sex offender.

In 2005, Whitchurch pleaded guilty to statutory sodomy and was locked up for four years.  Now fast forward, and police say they found that Whitchurch is up to no good—again.

Two weeks ago, Lincoln County put a warrant out for his arrest after they say Whitchurch had gone online to try to lure a child for sex.  They also charged him with failing to register as a sex offender.

Then, last Saturday, police say Whitchurch raped a 16-year-old girl.  They were both at a mutual friend’s house when the girl said Whitchurch attacked her.

“At 2:30 in the morning she woke up and this individual, Sam, was laying beside her,” Troy Police Detective Sergeant James Patton said.  “Subsequently, he had nonconsensual sex with her.”

Later that very same day, county deputies arrested Whitchurch on the outstanding warrant for solicitng a child online.  At the time, they didn’t even know about the reported rape.  But when Troy police put out the information, they quickly learned that county deputies already had him in custody.

Troy police interviewed Whitchurch in jail.  They say he told them that the sex was consensual and that he didn’t know the girl’s age.  But police didn’t buy his story, and now they want to know if he’s had any other victims.

“If there are any other victims, we would like for them to contact us at the Troy Police department or their local municipality police,” Sgt. Patton said.

Whitchurch is now jailed in Lincoln County on a $150,000, cash-only bond for the rape charge and another $50,000 bond for the child solicitation charge.
