(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis man has been accused of stealing from parents while they dropped off their kids at a Chesterfield daycare.

Demarco King, 36, of St. Louis has been charged with felony stealing.

Police said King was caught on surveillance stealing from a parent who dropped off a child at North Montessori Child Care on Conway Road. Police allege King opened the passenger door of the victim’s car and took a purse.

“One second that what it took for him to do that," said Captain Steven Lewis with Chesterfield police.

Police told News 4 suspects are targeting parents dropping off their children at daycare for one particular reason.

"One of the reasons why we think they choose daycares is just for the fact that most of the time, people are   focused on what when they come to a daycare? Their children," Lewis said.
