EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A 29-year-old parolee is jailed on $500,000 bond after being accused of trying to kill two brothers outside a bar in the southwestern Illinois village of East Alton.

The (Alton) Telegraph reports Madison County prosecutors have charged Lavonte Brownlee with first-degree attempted murder and armed violence in the stabbings on Sept. 2.

Authorities say he stabbed John Parker, 40, and Jay Parker, 31, outside the B&R Tavern after a fight inside the business.

Police say John Parker was stabbed as many as 10 times, and his younger brother sustained two wounds. Both survived.

Brownlee is on parole after prison terms for armed robbery, home invasion and aggravated battery.

Brownlee does not have a listed home telephone number, and online court records don’t show whether he has an attorney.
