MADISON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Metropolitan Major Case Squad has taken a suspect into custody in connection to the shooting death of a man at a Metro-East home, according to authorities.

Madison police received a call from a shooting victim at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. When officers arrived in the 2000 block of 5th Street, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence.

Travon Bey, 23, was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 5:00 p.m.

Officials said 20 investigators from the Major Case Squad are now investigating Bey's death.

Investigators said they have obtained information about people who were present at the time of the shooting, but fled the scene before police arrived. Investigators are asking those individuals to come forward voluntarily. It is believed Bey knew the person who shot him.

Officials said a light green 1999 Ford Expedition with Illinois license number P69-0222 was missing from the scene, but has since been located in Granite City.

The suspect could be charged as early as Monday.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Major Case Squad at (618) 876-7287.
