(KMOV) – Police say a 28-year-old woman remains in critical condition after her boyfriend accidentally shot her while under the influence of drugs and alcohol in Bridgeton.

Daniel Miller, 28, was charged with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.

According to court documents, Miller on Sept. 2 drank eight beers and took a Vicodin pill before “playing” with a 9mm pistol in his apartment on Brittany Circle.

Police say Miller admitted to pointing the weapon toward his girlfriend and recklessly shooting her.

Officials say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries that will affect her for the rest of her life. She is currently listed in critical condition.

Bond for Miller was set at $50,000 cash-only.
