(KMOV.com) – A mother told News 4 police initially refused to investigate a man who she says is sending creepy texts to her son.
Stefanie Fisk told News 4 her 12-year-old son has been receiving strange, creepy, and random texts from a man more than twice his age. Fisk said her son initially though it was from a relative, but she became worried when the man began to ask more personal questions.
According to Fisk, the man asked her son to meet and buy alcohol. After that text was sent, Fisk said she called the number back.
“He mentioned he was a 30-year-old black man who is doing great and he does this and that even though I’m just trying to figure out why you were on the phone with my son,” Fisk said.
Fisk said the man, who goes by Joe, eventually hung up. Fisk then called police, but she claims an officer told her nothing could be done.
“He said ‘I’m sorry we can’t help you with any of this. I do apologize because the man has not physically threatened to hurt him over the phone or he has not tried to hurt him. We can’t do anything.”
News 4 contacted St. Louis County police. Authorities said the officer who spoke to Fisk was wrong and that they are investigating.
