Police capture local man accused of tying up, sexually assaulting women

(KMOV) – Police are have arrested a man authorities said tied up two people and sexually assaulted one of them in Madison County Wednesday night.

Authorities said Jerry D. Sutt, 50, was arrested in Tennessee some time Monday afternoon. Additional details into his arrest were not immediately available.

His capture comes nearly a week after he was charged with two counts of unlawful restraint and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

According to deputies, Sutt was armed with a handgun when he tied up two women and sexually assaulted one of them at a home in Collinsville Wednesday night.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Granite City Police Department and the United State’s Marshals Office were actively searching for Sutt. Sutt’s bond was set at $500,000.
