(KMOV.com) – A St. Peters company is helping several local police departments store evidence in a new way.

Building Systems has built a device called “E-Twist.” The device uses barcodes, GPS tracking, and photos to electronically document what is found at a crime scene before it is turned over to evidence specialists.

Company founder Tim McIntyre said three St. Louis area police departments are using the device even though it costs $7,500.

McIntyre said the technology saves police time during an investigation and helps establish an electronic trail that is valuable.
