(KMOV) – A kid camp counselor from O'Fallon, Ill. faces charges after police say he was found with child pornography.

Nicholas Cherry was charged Wednesday with possession of child pornography, exploitation and sexual exploitation of a child.

O’Fallon, Ill. police say they received an anonymous tip in July, 2013 claiming Cherry may have been involved in inappropriate behavior with underage females.

Police say officers investigated and discovered Cherry engaged in sexual activities with the girls while employed as a part-time camp counselor for the Parks and Recreations division of O’Fallon, Ill. Police say they do not think any of the charges were connected to the job.

O'Fallon, Ill. Gary Graham says Cherry was fired as soon as the investigation started.

“We always err on the side of protecting our children in these situations, and immediately removed Mr. Cherry from our camp counselor position,” said Graham.

Police are asking anyone with more information on Cherry to contact them at 618-624-4545.
