(KMOV) -- A man from Lincoln County was charged with second degree assault after he allegedly attempted to stab a neighbor.
According to reports, police arrived at the house of Travis Stevens, 30, for a past domestic violence incident. No one answered the door at Stevens’ house, but officers heard someone speaking loudly a few homes down.
Police say when authorities made contact with the victim, the victim said Stevens arrived at his home earlier that morning acting “weird” and refused to leave his residence.
According to police, the victim opened the door to let Stevens out, but Stevens pulled a fixed bladed knife and attempted to thrust it into the victim’s body.
Authorities say fearing for his life, the victim grabbed a wooden table and struck Stevens in the head.
Police say Stevens eventually left, but not before throwing a large landscaping rock at the victim, shattering his storm door. Shortly after, Stevens was taken into custody.
Reports say Stevens appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and struggled to stay awake during questioning.
He is being held on in the Lincoln County Jail on $25,000.00 cash-only bond.
