(KMOV.com) – A Jersey County man was charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery Monday.

Prosecutors said Joshua Davis, 35, robbed the Mehlville Dairy in Godfrey, Ill. Feb 8. According to police, Davis approached the counter as if he was going to buy something and as the attendant opened the cash register he pulled a gun. Davis then allegedly reached into the register drawer and took an unknown amount of cash.

As he was taking the money, police said a 61-year-old woman grabbed him in attempt to stop the robbery. Authorities said Davis threw the woman to the ground and then fled, but she was not seriously injured.

According to police, several customers proceeded to chase after Davis as he drove away. Police later caught Davis in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Bond has been set at $250,000.
