ARNOLD, Mo. (KMOV) – A Jefferson County man has been arrested and charged in the 2010 homicide of an elderly man in Mobile, Alabama.

Scott Jones, 37 of Arnold, was charged Wednesday with murder and attempted murder after a two-year investigation.

Police say in February 2010, Jones allegedly broke into an elderly couple’s home during the night in Mobile County. He then assaulted the couple with an unidentified blunt object.

The male homeowner was killed and a woman was left severely injured.

Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer says Jones lived in Mobile County at the time of the crime and later moved to Arnold.

Further details into the investigation have not been released at this time.

Jones has been extradited to Mobile County and is in custody on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
