BENTON, Ill. (AP) -- An inmate serving a 20-year federal prison term in southern Illinois for drug dealing will have to serve an additional three and a half years behind bars for slugging a correctional officer.
A federal judge in Benton on Friday ordered 34-year-old Henry Ingram to serve the latest prison term after he completes his two-decade term for plotting to distribute cocaine, heroin and marijuana.
Authorities say a correctional officer at the Marion federal lockup in August was escorting Ingram to an office for questioning about contraband Ingram was found to be carrying. That's when Ingram punched the officer in the face.
Ingram later pleaded guilty to the charge of assaulting a correctional officer.
