(KMOV) -- Police arrested 27-year-old Thomas Arthur Debakker Jr. of California for the possession of 72 pounds of cannabis, found in the trunk of his car. He is in the Madison County jail on a $200,000 bond.

In a news release distributed on Friday, November 11, Illinois State Police say they stopped Debakker’s 2012 Chevrolet Malibu Thursday morning just before 9 a.m. on Interstate 70 near Highland for speeding. The trooper says he noticed suspicious behavior from Debakker and called an ISP K-9 to the scene. Police say the K-9 picked up the scent of an illegal substance coming from the trunk of the vehicle. Police then found 72 pounds of cannabis in three duffle bags, worth around $359,000.

This is the third time in three months that a trooper made a significant drug arrest says Illinois Police. On August 29 and September 24, Troopers stopped vehicles for traffic violations and discovered over 700 pounds of cannabis worth $3.4 million.
