(KMOV) - ST. LOUIS, Mo. --  Officers with the Illinois State Police are investigating after a man was found in a vehicle, bound and gagged with duct tape.

This happened Tuesday night on Interstate 55, near Raymond, according to a news release sent Wednesday afternoon.

After the man was freed by the trooper, he advised police he was pulled over by a dark-colored SUV with a red light on the dashboard and Illinois plates.  Three black males, who were all reportedly wearing masks, held the victim at gunpoint and stole approximately $5,500 in cash, as well as other items, according to police.

Police said the victim told them one of the suspects was wearing what appeared to be a police uniform without patches.

The investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made.
