Two Illinois residents charged with drug induced homicide

(KMOV) -- Two individuals have been charged with drug induced homicide in addition to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, that led to the death of a man.

Cory Armbruster, 28, and Becky Chandler, 30, both of Granite City, Illinois were charged in the Madison County Circuit Court.

On November 29, 2011 around 7:34 a.m. the Madison County Sheriff's office and Coroners Office responded to the 4200 block of Division Street in Granite City to investigate the death of William Smith, 48, of Granite City.

Officers located and seized empty fentanyl packaging at the scene and identified Armbruster as the individual who sold Smith the fentanyl

Armbruster was located and taken into custody for delivering fentanyl to Smith on the evening of November 28, 2011.

Further investigation showed that the fentanyl sold to Smith was sold to Armbruster by Chandler on or near the date of November 23, 2011.

Sheriff's investigators located and arrested Chandler at her home on the evening of November 29, 2011.

Both Armbruster and Chandler were taken to the Madison County Jail and a bond of $50,000 was set for both of them.

Bond has been set at $100,000 for both defendants.
