(KMOV) -- A Godfrey, Ill., man was charged with felony possession after overdosing early Wednesday morning.

Police said 44-year-old Peter P. Buhl was charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance

Police responded to Buhl’s residence at about 12:20 a.m. on an apparent overdose. Police determined Buhl had injected heroin and also found a substance that tested positive for containing heroin in his residence.

Buhl was taken to an area hospital and was treated and released. He was then taken into custody and transported to Madison County Jail.
