(KMOV.com) – Deputies in Franklin County are warning residents of a new crime trend in the area.
Authorities say drug addicts are breaking into homes and stealing anything they can get their hands on, including jewelry, small electronics and guns.
The thieves are out of the home in less than 10 minutes. They are then taking the stolen goods to local pawn shops to sell for drug money.
Deputies in Franklin County have made several arrests but say it will take a community effort to completely stop the problem.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has created a task force to deal with the new trend.
