Four men charged with battery and mob action in Metro East

(KMOV.com) – Four men in Madison County are charged with aggravated battery and mob action in the death of an Alton man in 2012.

The men were accused of beating another man in the 1000 block of Tremont.

The four men charged are Mikkel Allen Lumpkins, 22, Malik Ali Lumpkins, 21, Montinez K. Knight, 22, and Todd C. Lockhart, 30.

The men are accused of stabbing 41-year-old Montigo Embrey. They are also accused of beating Embrey with a bottle, golf club, chair, and motorcycle helmet, causing several injuries on June 16. Embrey was taken to a hospital for his injuries.

Jason Embrey, 39 was also charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and is accused of shooting Michael Lumpkins Sr., which took place on the same day as Montigo Embrey's beating. Investigators believe the two incidents are related.

Jason Embrey was convicted of felony domestic battery in 2008. As a result, Embry is additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison for the alleged shooting. For the weapons charge, he could face up to 10 years.

As for the four men charged with the beating could face up to seven years in prison. All four men have previous criminal records.
