(KMOV) – The former principal of a Collinsville private school faces charges for allegedly trying to sexually abuse a former student on separate occasions on campus last year.

Robert Lane, 57, was charged Thursday with two counts of attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

According to court documents, Lane was the principal of Collinsville Christian Academy when he tried to touch or fondle the private regions of a former student during business hours. Court documents say the victim, who was only identified by initials, was older than 13 but younger than 18 years old at the time.

The alleged incidents happened between Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 and between Sept. 1 and Nov. 1.

Court documents also say Lane “held a position of trust, authority or supervision in relation to the victim.”

Additional information surrounding the allegations were not immediately available.
