Suspects charged after 'smash and grab' break-in at electronics store

(KMOV) – Several people were charged after a 'smash and grab' break-in at south St. Louis City electronics store on Friday.

Artrelle J. Fowler, 20, of the 4800 block of Bessie, 20-year-old Donald R. Moore, of the 5000 block of Cabanne, 20-year-old Bradley C. Reid, of the 5100 block of Cabanne, 21-year-old Lee H. Craig, of the 4300 block of Lee, and 22-year-old Alexander M. Wright, of the 3300 block of Crest, were charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Property Damage, Resisting/Interfering With Arrest for a Felony, and Theft/Stealing over $500.

According to authorities, the burglary happened around 1:30a.m. at the RadioShack on Hampton Avenue.

Police say the suspects allegedly broke a glass window to gain access into the building and took multiple items.

When officers received report of the burglary, they began searching for a black Toyota that was spotted near the store.

Officers say they saw the same vehicle near Interstate 44 and Hampton Avenue and followed it to the intersection of north Spring and Blane Avenues, where the suspects were later arrested.

A K-9 Unit was used to locate the suspects.

No one was injured in the incident.

The number of items taken in the burglary has not yet been determined, but police say the thieves ran off with several computer monitors and laptops.

It was also reported that the suspects allegedly threw the stolen electronics onto the road while police were pursuing them. 

Fowler is held on a $10,000 secured bond. Moore is held on a $10,000 secured bond. Reid is held on a $50,000 secured bond. Craig is held on a$12,500 secured bond. Wright is held on a $7500 secured bond.
