(KMOV) – Police have filed felony abuse charges against a Florissant, Missouri father.
Zachary Cook, 22, is accused in the beating death of his three-year-old son.
Authorities are also seeking murder charges against Cook.
On May 5, 2011, Florissant officers were called to Cook’s home in the 2400 block of Blue Heron for a report of an injury to a young child.
Investigators say Cook’s son was airlifted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital with a severe head injury. The boy died Sunday evening as a result of his injuries.
During the investigation, authorities found that the injury occurred when Cook allegedly shook the child.
A five-year-old child who also lived in the home is now in foster care.
Cook is being held on $100,000 bond.
