(KMOV.com) – The father of a child found dead after being left in a hot car in O’Fallon, Ill. was released on bond Saturday afternoon.
Wayne Hubert, 32, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say Hubert put the boy in the car around 2:30 p.m. and went back into the home. The charges say Hubert "consumed alcohol to a level which caused him to pass out on the floor." The boy's mother came home around 5 p.m. and found the child lifeless.
St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone says the boy had a temperature of 104.6 degrees when first responders arrived on Thursday afternoon.
Hubert was jailed on $250,000 bond.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures reached 91 degrees on Thursday.
