$16,000 reward offered for arrest in fatal hit-and-run in Kirkwood

Police Investigating Possible Person Struck on North Kirkwood Road

(KMOV) – The family of a 50-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run wreck in Kirkwood on Feb. 9. has increased the reward to find the driver responsible.

A $15,000 reward is being offered by the family of Joe Auffenberg for an arrest and conviction. CrimeStoppers is also offering a $1,000 reward.

Police say Auffenberg was struck in the 400 block of N. Kirkwood just south of Bodley. He later died at the hospital.

Authorities are still trying to locate the vehicle involved.  Surveillance video captured in the area shows the suspect’s vehicle is a two-tone mini-van, possibly a Ford Windstar.
