ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Three men are in custody charged their car, a white Chevy Impala, towed off the Poplar Street Bridge where the trio was caught.

One of the three suspects, Theoplus Harvey, is charged with resisting arrest.

The ordeal shut down the eastbound lanes for about 30 minutes as the armed robbery suspects were trying to escape St. Louis police and take off into Illinois.

Police spotted the Impala near Grand and Warne in north St. Louis Tuesday night but when they tried to get the car to stop, the driver took off.

Illinois State Police were on the other side of the bridge waiting to make the stop, if necessary.

It's not known exactly which crimes those suspects may be tied to, but a white Chevy Impala is the suspect vehicle in several armed robberies throughout the city.

The car has been impounded to be combed for evidence.
